Ion exchange membrane. Tamura, Yorikazu; Hayashi, Yuzuru; Nose, Yoshinori; Negishi, Sutemi (Teijin, Ltd., Japan). Japan. Kokai JP 51131487 15 Nov 1976 Showa, 7 pp. (Japanese). (Japan). CODEN: JKXXAF. CLASS: IC: C08J005-08. APPLICATION: JP 75-55404 13 May 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 37 (Plastics Fabrication and Uses) Ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer (I) [25038-71-5] contg. .gtoreq.10% propylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer (II) [27029-05-6] 100, and ion exchange resin of COOR (R = H, alkali metal, and NH4) type with exchange capacity .gtoreq.0.3 meq/g 10-400 parts and, when required, peroxide are mixed, optionally formed to a membrane, irradiated with electron beam and/or .gamma.-ray, and hydrolyzed. Thus, water 500, acrylic acid 50, divinylbenzene 50, sodium lauryl sulfate 3, Na2S2O5 1, and Na4P2O7 0.6 parts were heated to 70.degree., mixed with (NH4)2S2O8 1 part for 4 h, salted out with HCl, washed with water and MeOH, and dried with hot air to obtain an ion-exchange resin (III) [9052-45-3]. A 1:1 mixt. of I and II (100 parts) at 300.degree. was pelletized, rolled with III (<100.mu. particle size) 50 parts at 70-80.degree., formed to a 250.mu. film, and soaked in 20% KCl for 10 h; the elec. resistance was 6.0 .OMEGA.-cm2 and ion transport no. 0.84. The membrane was stable in 30% NaOH at 100.degree. for 1 day.
Interaction of crosslinked polyacrylic acids with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide
Interaction of crosslinked polyacrylic acids with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide. Musabekov, K. B.; Abilov, Zh. A.; Beisebekov, M. K. (Dep. Chem., Kaz. State Univ., Alma-Ata, USSR). Makromol. Chem., 185(7), 1403-8 (English) 1984. CODEN: MACEAK. ISSN: 0025-116X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Chemistry of Synthetic High Polymers) The interaction of acrylic acid-divinylbenzene copolymer (I) [9052-45-3] with the micelle-forming surface-active cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (II) [57-09-0] is studied. The cation exchange interaction of I with II at small degrees of polyelectrolyte crosslinking is analogous to the interaction of linear poly(acrylic acid) with II. The total quantity of surface-active substance (SAS) bound to I increases with an increase of the SAS concn. in the soln., with the pH of the medium, and with the quantity of binding agent in the ion exchange resin.
