DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 2 (Mammalian Hormones) The biol. activities of purified hypothalamic growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF) [9034-39-3] were qual. indistinguishable from those of 1-44-human pancreatic GRF-OH [90599-39-6], 1-40-human pancreatic GRF-OH [84069-10-3], 1-37-human pancreatic GRF-OH [84136-38-9], and 1-44-human pancreatic GRF-NH2 [83930-13-6]. The different forms of GRF were noncompetitively inhibited by somatostatin-14 [51110-01-1] and somatostatin-28 [75037-27-3]. Extracellular Ca2+ was required for the effects of GRF, and cAMP [60-92-4] seemed to be involved in the mechanism of action of the hormone.
