- Products formed from analogues of 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethane (DDT) metabolites by Pseudomonas putida. Subba-Rao, R. V.; Alexander, M. (Dep. Agron., Cornell Univ., Ithaca, N. Y., USA). Appl. Environ. Microbiol., 33(1), 101-8 (English) 1977. CODEN: AEMIDF. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Cultures of P. putida growing in solns. with diphenylmethane [101-81-5] as sole carbon source formed 1,1,1',1'-tetraphenyldimethyl ether [574-42-5]. The product was identified by gas chromatog., mass spectrometry, and IR and NMR spectrometry. The formation of benzophenone [119-61-9], benzhydrol [91-01-0], and phenylglycolic acid [90-64-2] was established by gas chromatog. and mass spectrometry. Similar techniques also revealed that phenylacetic acid [103-82-2] was a major metabolite. Resting cell suspensions coverted benzhydrol to phenylglycolic acid and products tentatively identified as hydroxybenzhydrols and a hydroxybenzophenone. Cell suspensions of the bacterium also converted the tetraphenyldimethyl ether to benzhydrol and benzophenone. Possible pathways for the degrdn. of these analogues of DDT metabolites are discussed.
- Determination of renally excreted benzhydrol and its glucuronide
- Determination of renally excreted benzhydrol and its glucuronide. Potential metabolites of diphenylmethylether and diphenylmethylamine derivatives. Dell, H. D.; Fiedler, J. (Biochem. Abt., Troponwerke, Cologne, Ger.). Fresenius' Z. Anal. Chem., 284(2), 126-7 (German) 1977. CODEN: ZACFAU. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) The potential drug metabolite benzhydrol [91-01-0], administrated orally (10 mg) to rabbits, was recovered in the urine as its glucuronide [62875-13-2] with a 64.3% yield in 48 h. After oral administration of cinnarizine (I) [298-57-7] or diphenylpyraline (II) [147-20-6], which are metabolized to benzhydrol, benzhydrol glucuronide was recovered in rabbit urine in 3.6 and 3.4% yield, resp., on a molar basis. Benzhydrol was detd. in the urine by enzymic hydrolysis of the glucuronide, extn. into CHCl3, thin-layer chromatog., elution, oxidn. to benzophenone, and UV spectrophotometry.
