Beer's law held at 50-400 mg/mL, 60-400 mg/mL, 100-500 mg/mL, 100-800 mg/mL, or 200-1000 mg/mL depending on the drug. The recovery was 99.1-101.1%, std. deviation 1.62-4.87 and relative std. deviation 1.05-2.49%.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) Antazoline (I) [91-75-8] was colorimetrically detd. by adding 2% vanillin in MeOH to a soln. contg. 0.01-0.03 mg I/mL and evapg. the soln. to dryness. The residue was heated for 1 h on water bath with 85% H3PO4, cooled, vol. made with the same acid, and the absorbance was measured at 540 nm. The color produced was stable for 32 h. Beer's Law was obeyed in the range of 1-15 mg I/mL. Lower concns. of H3PO4 greatly decreased the sensitivity of the method and caused shifting of the absorbance peak toward longer wavelengths. Many antihistamines did not interfere with the detn.
