DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) The effect of light on com. prepns. of nifedipine (I) [21829-25-4] was detd. by using a fluorescent lamp at 860 lx, 3 cm from the beam source on 3 tablets and 3 capsules. I content was detd. every week for 4 wk by HPLC with IR detection. In prepns. packaged with PTP [92-94-4], tablet (C) and capsule (E) decreased after 4 wk. In prepns. without PTP packaging, a decrease in I content was obsd. in C and E after 1 wk and in all prepns. after 3 wk. On irradn. of pure and fine crystals, I content decreased gradually with time and was degraded completely into II [50428-14-3] on exposure to light for 7 days.
