Thus, 2,4-O2N(HO)C6H3NH2 [610-81-1] was treated with ClCO2(CH2)3Cl [628-11-5] in the presence of CaCO3 to give 2,4-O2N(HO)C6H3NHCO2(CH2)3Cl [92952-83-5] which was added to aq. ethanolic NaOH and heated at reflux to form I (R = H, R1 = CH2CH2CH2OH) [92952-81-3] with lmax 478 nm. Another typical dye, I (R = H, R1 = Pr) [92952-82-4] (lmax 480 nm), was prepd. by treating 2,4-O2N(HO)C6H3Cl [610-78-6] with PrNH2 [107-10-8] in the presence of Na2CO3 and CuCl. Other I were prepd. by these two methods. Hair dyeing formulations contg. I are described. .
