Self-condensations on the amine in the presence of H2SO4 produced 7,15-diazospiro[5,1,5,3]hexadecane-14,15-dione [19996-59-9], which was reduced with LiAlH4 to 7,15-diazospiro[5,1,5,3]hexadecane (I) [21430-14-8]. I (8.9 g) and 20 ml Me acrylate [96-33-3] were refluxed 24 h to yield 9.2 g methyl-.beta.-7,15-diazadispiro[5,1,5,3]hexadecane-15-yl propionate (II) [51461-90-6]. The light stability (time required to exhibit 0.5 carbonyl absorbent unit) of a polypropylene [9003-07-0] film contg. 0.4% II was 785 h, compared to 180 h for the control. .
