- Chromatographic method for determining methylmonochloroacetamide. Hodisan, Teodor; Marutoiu, Constantin; Brendea, Zoia (Rom.). Rev. Chim. (Bucharest), 29(2), 176 (Romanian) 1978. CODEN: RCBUAU. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) In the synthesis of Dimethoate [60-51-5] the intermediates Me monochloracetate (I) [96-34-4], Me monochloracetamide (II) [96-30-0], and methanol [67-56-1] are present in the reaction mixts. The 3 compds. were detd. by gas chromatog., using 13% dinonyl phthalate on Chromosorb W. The chromatog. max. were identical with those obtained with pure I and II. The pure compds. were obtained by thin-layer chromatog. on silicagel RH with cyclohexane-isopropanol-E acetate (4:2:2 vol./vol.) as eluent. I and II were extd. from the silicagel with CHCl3.
- Absorbable polymers of substituted benzoic acid
- Absorbable polymers of substituted benzoic acid. Rezada, Rao Srinivas; Jamiolkowski, Dennis Douglas; Shalaby, Wahba Shalaby (Ethicon, Inc., USA). Eur. Pat. Appl. EP 115403 A1 8 Aug 1984, 26 pp. DESIGNATED STATES: R: BE, DE, FR, GB, IT, NL, SE. (English). (European Patent Organization). CODEN: EPXXDW. CLASS: IC: C08G063-66; C08G063-60; A61L017-00; C08G063-68. APPLICATION: EP 84-300318 19 Jan 1984. PRIORITY: US 83-459428 20 Jan 1983. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 35 Absorbable, radiation-sterilizable polymers useful as sutures and other prosthetic and surgical devices are obtained from polyesters of substituted benzoic acids, dihydric alcs. and glycolide and/or lactide. Thus, dimethyl 4-(carbomethoxy)benzoate [35005-30-2] was prepd. by reaction of ClCH2CO2Me [96-34-4] with Me p-hydroxybenzoate [99-76-3] in anhyd. MeOH in the presence of NaOMe. The ester was then copolymd. with ethylene glycol in the presence of dibutyltin oxide. The resulting polymer had an inherent viscosity of 0.69 dL/g. The polyester was further copolymd. with glycolide in the presence of dibutyltin oxide. The copolymer was further melt spun into monofilaments and annealed at 65° for 12 h and sterilized with 60Co. The fibers were stable to sterilization, and were hydrolyzed within 34 days at 50° indicating that they are absorbable. Improved tensile strength, elongation and other properties of the fibers were shown.
