Thus, I (R = Ph)-II (R = Ph) mixt. 267, 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol [96-76-4] 371, and MeONa 8.5 g were heated to 190°/5 mm with distn. of phenol and freed of volatiles at 210°/5 mm to prep. a III-IV mixt. which was added (0.07%) to V contg. 0.05% Ca stearate and 0.10% Irganox 1010. The mixt. had melt index (ASTM D1238 L) 6.0 after 4 extrusions at 273.1°, compared with 16.4 without the III-IV mixt.

The most effective additive (by demerit evaluation) contained diethylenetriamine oleic acid diamide [57843-21-7] 200, triethanolamine monooleate [10277-04-0] 100, 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol [96-76-4] 200, and residue oil from oxo synthesis of nonanol [28473-21-4] 500 ppm, and the mixt. was used in an example at 200 ppm.
