The Baeyer-Villiger rearrangement of I gave the 2,7-diacetoxy analog which was oxidized to 2,7-diacetoxy-9-fluorenone, and the latter was treated with ClCH2CH2NEt2. 961-27-3 and 42523-29-5 are just another two chemicals used in this study.HCl to yield II. .
