In 1, 4,4'-bpy mols. link Zn(II) ions into 1-dimensional ladders, and these ladders are bridged by bpndc2- ligands, resulting in an infinite two-dimensional rhombohedral network. Such rhombohedral grids interweave each other, forming a three-dimensional structure. In 2, Zn2O2 cores are interconnected by bpndc2- ligands to generate a 1-dimensional centripede-like double-chain structure, and further assembled by O-H×××O H bonds and p-p stacking interactions to form three-dimensional supramol. network with 1-dimensional channels. .

The 5 acids were effective corrosion inhibitors in Zn coatings formed by electrodeposition on steel. Stationary corrosion currents of 2.78-9.54 ′ 10-2 A/m2 were obsd. .
