- Delustering of electrophoretic coatings. (Shinto Paint Co., Ltd., Japan). Jpn. Kokai Tokkyo Koho JP 59041496 A2 7 Mar 1984 Showa, 4 pp. (Japanese). (Japan). CODEN: JKXXAF. CLASS: IC: C25D013-00. APPLICATION: JP 82-153139 1 Sep 1982. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) Section cross-reference(s): 55, 56 A substrate was electrophoretically coated in a bath at a temp. higher than the glass transition temp. of the binder resin, and a d.c. voltage was applied to the coated substrate as the anode in an acid bath to obtain a mat coating. Thus, a binder resin [26351-99-5] of glass transition temp. 20° was obtained by the copolymn. of acrylic acid 50, hydroxyethyl methacrylate 150, Me methacrylate 430, and Bu acrylate 370 parts, mixed 8:2 with a melamine resin, neutralized (80%) with Et3N, thinned with water to 10% solids, and electrophoretically coated at 30° on an anodized aluminum. A d.c. voltage of 150 V was applied to the coated substrate in a 0.5% aq. p-phenolsulfonic acid [98-67-9] bath for 1 min, washed with water, and baked at 100° for 25 min to give a matte coating with gloss 30%.
- Study of catalytic phenolysis of hydrolytic lignin
- Study of catalytic phenolysis of hydrolytic lignin. Gospodinov, B.; Bondarenko, V. M.; Nikolaev, A. F.; Kazarnovskii, A. M. (Leningr. Tekhnol. Inst., Leningrad, USSR). Deposited Doc., SPSTL 1154 Khp-D82, 9 pp. Avail. SPSTL (Russian) 1982. DOCUMENT TYPE: Report CA Section: 43 (Cellulose, Lignin, Paper, and Other Wood Products) The phenolysis of hydrolytic lignin (I) [8072-93-3] in the presence of HCl, H2SO4, and p-phenolsulfonic acid (II) [98-67-9] at 150° was discussed. Of the 3 catalysts studied, the II was most effective, as it was the strongest H+ donor and was compatible with I. High phenolysis rate and the optimum amt. of reacted PhOH [108-95-2] were obsd. in the presence of 4% II (based on PhOH). The condensation products were black, resinous materials, sol. in EtOH, Me2CO, and ethylene glycol.
