The stability in gastric juice of nafcillin Na, cloxacillin Na [642-78-4], dicloxacillin Na [343-55-5], and ampicillin tablets and capsules, as well as penicillin V K [132-98-9] tablets was examd. to see whether excipients had an effect. Excipients used in tablets did not appear to increase the stability of the penicillins, whereas tablet excipients had a small stabilizing effect.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 3 (Biochemical Interactions) In vitro synergy studies with nafcillin sodium [985-16-0] and gentamicin sulfate [1405-41-0] were done on 50 strains of S. aureus isolated from the blood of drug abusers with acute bacterial endocarditis. Synergy was demonstrated against 44 (88%) of the strains, partial synergy against 5 (10%) of the strains, and indifferent results in 1 (2%) strain.
