- Comparative studies of the sensitivity to fungicides of fifty strains of Botrytis cinerea from ornamental plants in Italy
- Comparative studies of the sensitivity to fungicides of fifty strains of Botrytis cinerea from ornamental plants in Italy. Lorenzini, G. (Ist. Patol. Veg., Univ. Pisa, Pisa 56100, Italy). Meded. Fac. Landbouwwet., Rijksuniv. Gent, 48(3), 603-9 (English) 1983. CODEN: MFLRA3. ISSN: 0368-9697. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Fifty isolates of B. cinerea obtained in 1982 from glasshouse ornamental plants treated with various systemic and protective fungicides were tested for resistance to the main fungicides used to control grey mold. The fungicides considered were: carbendazim (MBC) [10605-21-7], methyl-thiophanate (MT) [23564-05-8], vinclozolin [50471-44-8], iprodione [36734-19-7], procymidox [32809-16-8], captan [133-06-2], TMTD [137-26-8], dichlofluanid [1085-98-9], and dicloran (DCNA) [99-30-9].Several substances with their cas registry numbers 10605-21-7 and 137-26-8 may be metioned in this study. In vitro tests included: mycelial growth and spare germination on agar media contg. different concns. of fungicides. The fitness of the isolates was evaluated measuring spore prodn., the degree of colonization of carrot slices and pelargonium leaves, and sclerotia prodn. in vitro. Benzimidazole fungicide-resistant strains were very common (~50%), and their fitness was variable. Resistance to benzimidazoles was not always correlated with resistance to DCNA. One strain was partly resistant to vinclozolin, 3 to iprodione, and 4 to procymidox. No resistant strain was found for captan, TMTD, and dichlofluanid. After 12-mo subculturing on fungicide-free media the strains resistant to MBC and TM have not lost their resistance, wheres some strains resistant to the other fungicides have. .

- Efficacy of iprodione against Alternaria black pod and white mold of white beans. Tu, J. C. (Res. Stn., Agric. Canada, Harrow, ON N0R 1G0, Can.). Can. J. Plant Pathol., 5(2), 133-5 (English) 1983. CODEN: CJPPD6. ISSN: 0706-0661. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Six fungicides, benomyl [17804-35-2], dichloran [99-30-9], chlorothalonil [1897-45-6], iprodione [36734-19-7], BAS 436 [54864-61-8], and CGA 64250 [60207-90-1] were tested in vitro against Alternaria alternata and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Iprodione and CGA 64250 inhibited mycelial growth of both fungi in vitro at 10 mg/mL. 1897-45-6 and 60207-90-1 which are cas registry numbers of chemicals are mentioned. Although benomyl, chlorothalonil, dichloran, and BAS 436 inhibited mycelial growth of S. sclerotiorum at 10 mg/mL, they did not affect A. alternata, even at 100 mg/mL. In the field, iprodione was the most effective fungicide for controlling both white mold and black pod on white beans. Both iprodione and benomyl delayed plant maturation by ~1 wk. CGA 64250 was phytotoxic to white bean plants. .
