Methods were developed for the preparation of N-alkenylammonium salts from hexamethylenetetramine and alkenyl chlorides in aqueous solution and chloroform. The salts were isolated in pure form; their structure was proved, and the main characteristics were determined. The chemicals were tested for bactericidal activity and exhibited 100% growth suppression for sulfate-reducing bacteria at a reagent concentration in produced water in the range from 0.01 to 0.05 wt %.
