1,1-di-(2-chloroethyl)-4-nitroso-4-(2-chloroethyl)semicarbazide, commonly known as nitrosourea, is a chemical compound used as an alkylating antineoplastic agent in chemotherapy. It is utilized in the treatment of various cancers, including brain tumors, lymphomas, and Hodgkin's disease. Nitrosourea works by attaching alkyl groups to the DNA of cancer cells, which ultimately leads to the inhibition of cell division and, subsequently, cell death.
