140208-23-7 Usage

Description

HUMAN PAI-1, also known as Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 1 or Serine Protease Inhibitor E1 (SERPINE1), is a gene located on human chromosome 7q22.1. It is produced in various cells, including hepatocytes, endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, megakaryocytes, and adipocytes. HUMAN PAI-1 plays a crucial role in regulating the fibrinolytic system by inhibiting the activation of plasminogen, which is essential for the breakdown of blood clots and tissue remodeling.

Uses

Used in Biomedical Research:
HUMAN PAI-1 is used as a research tool for studying the regulation of the fibrinolytic system and its role in various physiological and pathological processes. It helps researchers understand the mechanisms underlying blood clot formation, dissolution, and the development of related diseases.
Used in Neurobiology:
HUMAN PAI-1 is used as an inhibitor of pro-brain-derived neurotrophic factor (proBDNF) in radioimmunoprecipitation assay (RIPA) in peripheral blood and lymphocytes. This application aids in understanding the role of PAI-1 in modulating neurite growth and its potential implications in neurological disorders.
Used in Infectious Disease Research:
HUMAN PAI-1 is used to block plasmin activation in mice infected with C. albicans hyphae. This application helps researchers investigate the role of PAI-1 in host defense mechanisms and the pathogenesis of fungal infections.
Used in Pharmaceutical Development:
HUMAN PAI-1 is used as a target for the development of therapeutic agents that modulate the fibrinolytic system. These agents may have potential applications in the treatment of various conditions, such as thrombotic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer, where the regulation of blood clot formation and dissolution is critical.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) protein belongs to the Serpin superfamily of serine protease inhibitors. It is the principal inhibitor of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and urokinase (uPA), the activators of plasminogen and therefore inhibits the fibrinolysis process. PAI is involved in extracellular matrix remodeling and has been implicated in processes like angiogenesis, chemotaxis, ovulation, and embryogenesis. PAI-1 is present in increased levels in various disease states such as a number of cancer forms, obesity and the metabolic syndrome.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 140208-23-7 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,4,0,2,0 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 140208-23:
(8*1)+(7*4)+(6*0)+(5*2)+(4*0)+(3*8)+(2*2)+(1*3)=77
77 % 10 = 7
So 140208-23-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
