15481-70-6 Usage
General Description
White microcrystalline solid or light brown solid. Starts to darken in color (decompose) at approximately 437° F; continues to darken until the melting point (525° F) at which temperature 2-methylbenzene-1,3-diamine dihydrochloride is a very dark brown liquid .
Air & Water Reactions
Water soluble.
Reactivity Profile
2-methylbenzene-1,3-diamine dihydrochloride behaves as a weak organic acid. Materials in this group are generally soluble in water. The resulting solutions contain moderate concentrations of hydrogen ions and have pH's of less than 7.0. They react as acids to neutralize bases. These neutralizations generate heat, but less or far less than is generated by neutralization of inorganic acids, inorganic oxoacids, and carboxylic acid. They usually do not react as either oxidizing agents or reducing agents but such behavior is not impossible.
Health Hazard
ACUTE/CHRONIC HAZARDS: When heated to decomposition 2-methylbenzene-1,3-diamine dihydrochloride emits very toxic fumes of NOx and hydrogen chloride.
Fire Hazard
Flash point data for 2-methylbenzene-1,3-diamine dihydrochloride are not available; however, 2-methylbenzene-1,3-diamine dihydrochloride is probably combustible.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 15481-70-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,5,4,8 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 15481-70:
(7*1)+(6*5)+(5*4)+(4*8)+(3*1)+(2*7)+(1*0)=106
106 % 10 = 6
So 15481-70-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
