Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 17423-48-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,7,4,2 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 17423-48:
(7*1)+(6*7)+(5*4)+(4*2)+(3*3)+(2*4)+(1*8)=102
102 % 10 = 2
So 17423-48-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

The Synthesis of Novel Polycyclic Heterocyclic Ring Systems via Photocyclization. 7. Benzothienonaphthoquinoline and Benzothienonaphthotriazoloquinoline

Sasaki, Kenji,Castle, Raymond N.

, p. 963 - 965 (2007/10/02)

The synthesis of two novel polycyclic heterocyclic ring systems via photocyclization is described. These are benzothienonaphthoquinoline and benzothienonaphthotriazoloquinoline. In the 1H nmr spectrum the proton at position 6 is strongly deshielded in the first ring system while the proton at position 6 in the second ring system is shifted considerably upfield while the proton at position 8 in the second ring system is the most deshielded proton in that ring system. The bay regions in both ring systems are severely congested.
