Uses
Used in Veterinary Medicine:
Medetomidine hydrochloride is used as a sedative and analgesic agent for the management of pain and anxiety in animals. It helps to calm and sedate animals, facilitating easier handling and treatment procedures.
Used in Human Medicine:
In human medicine, medetomidine hydrochloride is used as an analgesic and sedative agent for various clinical applications, such as preoperative sedation, pain management, and procedural sedation. Its a2-adrenergic agonist properties contribute to its effectiveness in these areas.
Used in Anesthesia:
Medetomidine hydrochloride is used as an adjunct in anesthesia to provide sedation, analgesia, and hemodynamic stability during surgical procedures. Its ability to reduce the need for other anesthetic agents makes it a valuable component in balanced anesthesia techniques.
Biological Activity
Potent, highly selective α 2 -adrenoceptor agonist (K i values are 1.08 and 1750 nM for α 2 - and α 1 -adrenoceptors respectively). Displays greater selectivity over α 1 -adrenoceptors than clonidine and UK 14,304 (1620-, 220- and 300-fold respectively). Inhibits twitch response in electrically stimulated mouse vas deferens (pD 2 = 9.0). Active in vivo ; displays hypotensive, bradycardic, sedative, anxiolytic, hypothermic and analgesic effects.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 106807-72-1 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,0,6,8,0 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 106807-72:
(8*1)+(7*0)+(6*6)+(5*8)+(4*0)+(3*7)+(2*7)+(1*2)=121
121 % 10 = 1
So 106807-72-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
