Synergistic recognition of halide anions and saccharides by oligohydrazide foldamers

We synthesized and characterized a new kind of hydrazide oligomer that contains two different types of binding moieties for halide anions and saccharides. The addition of either halide anions or saccharides can induce the oligomers to adopt folded conformations. More interestingly, the oligomers are able to complex both chloride anions and saccharides in the cavity at the same time, implying a synergistic molecular recognition. Benzoylbenzohydrazide oligomers containing two different types of binding moieties could be induced to adopt folded conformations by halide anions and saccharides. Moreover, the oligomers could synergistically host these two different kinds of guests in the cavity. Copyright
Two novel quadruple hydrogen-bonding motifs: the formation of supramolecular polymers, vesicles, and organogels

supporting information; experimental part, p. 188 - 191 (2010/03/04)
Two new hydrazide-based quadruple hydrogen-bonding motifs are described. Dipodals based on these two motifs are revealed to form supramolecular polymers, which can further aggregate to form vesicles and/or organogels in hydrocarbons. The quadruple hydroge
Organic nanotubes assembled from isophthalamides and their application as templates to fabricate Pt nanotubes

supporting information; experimental part, p. 4212 - 4214 (2011/03/19)
A new class of organic nanotubes have been assembled from simple isophthalamide derivatives and their surface can be conveniently coated with Pt, which form new Pt nanotubes after the inside organic materials are removed with hot methanol.
