Basic Red 46 is an azo-dye used in fluorescence studies as well as a potential additive to sustainable hair dyes.

Preparation

5-Amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylic acid diazo and N-methyl-N-benzylaniline?coupling, and then the decarboxylation and quaternary ammonium salt.

Contact allergens

This monoazoic textile dye seems to be an important cause of foot dermatitis, being a frequent allergen in acrylic socks. It caused contact dermatitis in two workers in the textile industry.

Properties and Applications
