Palladium-catalyzed synthesis of fluoreones from bis(2-bromophenyl)methanols
Gao, Qian,Xu, Senmiao
, p. 208 - 212 (2018)
A palladium-catalyzed synthesis method of fluorenones has been developed. A variety of bis(2-bromophenyl)methanols could undergo the reaction smoothly in the presence of Pd(OAc)2, affording a series of fluorenones in moderate to good yields (two steps). Mechanistic studies reveal that the reaction might be triggered by oxidation of alcohol followed by intramolecular reductive coupling.
Construction of Various Bridged Polycyclic Skeletons by Palladium-Catalyzed Dearomatization

, p. 8143 - 8147 (2020)
A powerful palladium-catalyzed dearomative cyclization was developed that provides facile access to eight types of bridged tetracyclic skeletons bearing various ring sizes and heterocycles. With this method, several skeletons or analogues of natural products, including tubingensin B and dracaenones, were synthesized. Asymmetric dearomative cyclization enables the construction of various enantiomerically enriched bridged polycyclic systems with up to 99 % ee by employing a chiral palladium catalyst.

supporting information, p. 5417 - 5422 (2020/07/08)
We reported herein CuI/DMEDA catalyzed N,N-diarylation reaction of amides with various di(o-bromoaryl)methanes to produce diverse 9,10-dihydroacridine derivatives. The resulting 9,10-dihydroacridine derivatives were oxidized selectively under mild conditions to afford acridine, acridinone, and acridinium derivatives. The copper-catalyzed N,N-diarylation reaction coupled with oxidative aromatization reaction enabled the facile construction of nitrogen atom-embedded tetracenes and pentacenes of different ortho-fused patterns. The luminescence properties, especially the effect of fusion pattern on fluorescence emission of acquired N-polycenes, were also demonstrated.
