A scheme is presented for the synthesis of sulfonamido ketones, which are used for the study of the magnestic anisotropic characteristics of the sulfo group.In these compounds there is an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the amide proton and the oxygen atom of the keto group.Magnetic nonequivalence of the methylene protons in the ethyl group is observed in the PMR spectra, and the most probable conformation for the sulfonamido ketones is proposed on this basis.
