T1 and T1ρ study of proton motion in hydrazine nitrate N2H5NO3
Harrell, J. W.
, p. 1093 - 1098 (1982)
Proton T1 and T1ρ measurements have been made in hydrazine nitrate N2H5NO3 from 140 to 362 K.Two previously reported solid phases have been distinguished. In form I the relaxation times have been analyzed in terms of reorientations of the -NH3+ and -NH2 groups, and correlation times for these motions have been obtained.A detailed calculation of T1ρ due to -NH2 reorientations has made based on the geometry of the hydrazinium ion in N2H5HC2O4.The relaxation is due to both H-N dipole-dipole interactions within the -NH2 group and to H-H dipole-dipole interactions between the -NH2 and -NH3+ groups which are modulated by 180 deg flips of the -NH2+ group about the H-N-H bisectrix. In form II the correlation times for -NH3 reorientation are shorter and the correlation times for -NH2 reorientation are longer than in form I.The relaxation and free induction decay measurements show a high-mobility component in form II.
