Chemical Properties

Pale Yellow Solid

Uses

N,N'-Dinitrosopiperazine (DNP) induces nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and shows organ specificity to the nasopharyneal epithelium.

Safety Profile

Suspected carcinogen with experimental carcinogenic, neoplastigenic, tumorigenic, and teratogenic data. Poison by ingestion, subcutaneous, and intraperitoned routes. Experimental reproductive effects. Human mutation data reported. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx. See also NNITROSO COMPOUNDS.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 140-79-4 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 1,4 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 140-79:
(5*1)+(4*4)+(3*0)+(2*7)+(1*9)=44
44 % 10 = 4
So 140-79-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Voltammetric determination of N,N'-DINITROSOPIPERAZINE (cas 140-79-4) in simulated gastric juice09/30/2019

A voltammetric method has been developed for the determination of N,N'-dinitrosopiperazine (DNPZ) in simulated gastric juice. The method is based on measuring the differential pulse polarographic peak produced in pH 3 Britton Robinson buffer. A well defined, diffusion-controlled cathodic wave wa...detailed

Facile N-nitrosation of secondary amines using poly(N,N'-dibromo-Nethylene- benzene-1,3-disulfonamide) and N,N,N′,N′-tetrabromobenzene-1,3- disulfonamide/NaNO2 under mild conditions

Ghorbani-Vaghei, Ramin,Shiri, Lotfi,Ghorbani-Choghamarani, Arash

, p. 204 - 208 (2013)

In this research project, a combination of poly(N,N′-dibromo-N- ethylene-benzene-1,3-disulfonamide) [PBBS] and/or (N,N,N′,N′- tetrabromobenzene-1,3-disulfonamide) [TBBDA] with sodium nitrite in the presence of wet SiO2 (50% w/w) was used as an efficient nitrosating agent for the conversion of secondary amines to their corresponding nitroso compounds. N-Nitrosation reaction has been performed in dichloromethane at room temperature under mild and heterogeneous conditions. The reaction is operationally simple and corresponding products were achieved in good to excellent yields.

, p. 1272 - 1276 (2014/04/03)

N-Nitrosation of different types of secondary amines has been proceeded using supported perchloric acid on silica gel and sodiume nitrite under heterogeneous conditions. The operational system is simple and high pure products can be easily isolated with good to high yields.
