Reaction of bissilylacetylenes MenCl3-nSiCCSiMenCl3-n (where n = 0-3) with hydrogen chloride in the presence of ferric chloride gives stable adducts in a 1:1 ratio only for MeCl2Si and Me2ClSi derivatives. The tendency of 1,2-bissilylchloroethylenes MenCl3-nSiCH=CClSiMenCl3-n (where n = 1-3) to undergo breakdown under the action of FeCl3 is determined by the nature of the silyl groups and increases in the order MeCl2Si Me2ClSi Me3Si.
