Fluorescent brightener 378, also known as 4,4'-bis(2-sulfostyryl)biphenyl disodium salt, is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C28H20Na2O6S2. It is often used in the detergent, textile, and paper industry as an optical brightening agent to enhance the appearance of color in fabrics and papers. The chemical works by absorbing light in the ultraviolet and violet region and re-emitting light in the blue region of the spectrum.
