17696-69-4 Usage

Description

HEMATOPORPHYRIN DIHYDROCHLORIDE, also known as Hematoporphyrin, is an endogenous porphyrin derived from the acid hydrolysis of hemoglobin. It functions as a photosensitizer and has been found to increase oxygen consumption and decrease the respiratory control ratio (RCR) in irradiated isolated rat liver mitochondria. Hematoporphyrin exhibits light-dependent effects on DNA breaks in cell-free assays and has demonstrated the ability to decrease the survival of irradiated HeLa cells and the growth of subcutaneous Yoshida AH-130 hepatoma tumors in rats when administered with radiation.

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
HEMATOPORPHYRIN DIHYDROCHLORIDE is used as an active pharmaceutical intermediate for its light-dependent effects on cellular processes and its potential in cancer treatment.
Used in Cancer Treatment:
HEMATOPORPHYRIN DIHYDROCHLORIDE is used as a photosensitizing agent for the treatment of various types of cancer. It has been shown to induce DNA breaks in a light-dependent manner and decrease the survival of irradiated cancer cells, such as HeLa cells. Additionally, it has demonstrated efficacy in reducing the growth of subcutaneous Yoshida AH-130 hepatoma tumors in rats when administered with radiation, making it a promising candidate for cancer therapy.
Used in Mitochondrial Research:
HEMATOPORPHYRIN DIHYDROCHLORIDE is used as a research tool to study the effects of photosensitizers on mitochondrial function. It has been shown to increase oxygen consumption and decrease the respiratory control ratio (RCR) in irradiated isolated rat liver mitochondria, providing valuable insights into the mechanisms of mitochondrial respiration and the potential applications of photosensitizers in various biological processes.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 17696-69-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,7,6,9 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 17696-69:
(7*1)+(6*7)+(5*6)+(4*9)+(3*6)+(2*6)+(1*9)=154
154 % 10 = 4
So 17696-69-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
