17989-90-1 Usage

General Description

Barium acrylate is a chemical compound that is formed from the reaction of barium hydroxide with acrylic acid. It is a white crystalline solid that is highly soluble in water. Barium acrylate is mainly used as a co-monomer in the production of acrylic polymers and resins. It also finds application as a crosslinking agent in the manufacturing of adhesives and coatings. Additionally, it is utilized in the production of rubber and plastics to improve their mechanical and thermal properties. However, it is important to handle barium acrylate with care as it is considered toxic and can cause skin and respiratory irritation upon prolonged exposure.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 17989-90-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,7,9,8 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 17989-90:
(7*1)+(6*7)+(5*9)+(4*8)+(3*9)+(2*9)+(1*0)=171
171 % 10 = 1
So 17989-90-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Melt grafting of metal salts onto LLDPE backbone - An FTIR study

Anbarasan,Dhanalakshmi

experimental part, p. 37 - 44 (2010/06/21)

The melt graft functionalization of metal di(meth)acrylates onto linear low density poly(ethylene) (LLDPE) at 160 °C under inert atmosphere is reported here. The post melt grafting FTIR-RI method was used to find out the % grafting of metal salts onto LLDPE backbone. Further, DSC, TGA and HRTEM techniques were introduced to explain the results. A plausible reaction mechanism was proposed.
