Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 2007-20-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 2,0,0 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 2007-20:
(6*2)+(5*0)+(4*0)+(3*7)+(2*2)+(1*0)=37
37 % 10 = 7
So 2007-20-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

The Identification of Azo Dyes. Part 2. Reversal of Azo-Coupling and Reduction of Azo Groups.

Clemson, Anthony,Symons, Christine,Rezakhani, Soraya,Whiting, Mark C.

, p. 2415 - 2425 (2007/10/02)

On treatment with pyridine, phenol and sulphuric acid, azo dyes decompose, giving variable yields of p-arylazophenols by transfer of the arylazo-group present in the dye to phenol. In some cases this leads to a practical method of identification on a small scale.Alternatively, reduction of azo dyes using titanous hydroxide is efficient and general, and the resultant amines can be identified as such or after dinitrophenylation.
