2044-27-1 Usage
General Description
1-Methylpyridine-2-thione, also known as 2-pyridinethiol, is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C6H7NS. It is a yellow to reddish-brown liquid with a strong, unpleasant odor. 1-Methylpyridine-2-thione is commonly used in the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries as a building block for the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. It has also been studied for its potential use as a corrosion inhibitor and as a precursor for the synthesis of metal complexes. Additionally, it has been investigated for its potential biological activities, including its antimicrobial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. However, caution should be exercised when handling 1-methylpyridine-2-thione because it is toxic if ingested, inhaled, or in contact with skin.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 2044-27-1 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 2,0,4 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 2044-27:
(6*2)+(5*0)+(4*4)+(3*4)+(2*2)+(1*7)=51
51 % 10 = 1
So 2044-27-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

A New Procedure for the Conversion of Thiols into Reactive Sulfenylating Agents
Barton, D. H. R.,Hesse, R. H.,O'Sullivan, A. C.,Pechet, M. M.
, p. 6697 - 6702 (2007/10/02)
Thiols may be converted in high yield into unsymmetrical 2-pyridyl disulfides 3.Treatment of these with alkylating agents (e.g., alkyl fluorosulfonates or oxonium salts) affords the corresponding N-alkylpyridyl disulfides 4, which are potent sulfenylating agents (Scheme II) and react smoothly with a variety of sulfur nucleophiles (e.g., thiols, thiones, thioamides, dithiocarbamates, thiocyanate, etc.) to afford disulfides, with amines to afford sulfenamides, and with β-diketones to afford sulfides. This new method is particularly well-suited to the preparation of unsymmetrical disulfides and sulfenamides from complex and otherwise r eactive thiols.
A CONVENIENT METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF N,N'-DISUBSTITUTED THIOUREAS USING 2-CHLOROPYRIDINIUM SALT, SODIUM TRITHIOCARBONATE AND AMINES
Takikawa, Yuji,Inoue, Noriyuki,Sato, Ryu,Takizawa, Saburo
, p. 641 - 642 (2007/10/02)
N,N'-Disubstituted thioureas were prepared in high yields by treating 2-chloropyridinium salt with sodium trithiocarbonate and subsequently adding amines.
