Usage

General Description

Perfluoro(4-methylpent-2-ene) is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of substances known as perfluorocarbons. These are hydrocarbons wherein all hydrogen atoms have been replaced by fluorine atoms. Structurally, perfluoro(4-methylpent-2-ene) is a six-carbon chain with a double bond between the second and third carbons, and one carbon branching off the fourth carbon. Being a perfluorocarbon, it is characterized by high thermal stability and resistance to acids, alkalis, and heat. Its main uses are in the electronics industry as a coolant, and in medicine as an artificial blood substitute due to its ability to carry oxygen.
