Description
ACID ALIZARIN VIOLET N is a red powder that exhibits various color shades when dissolved in different solvents. It is a light purple in water, red orange in ethanol, and slightly soluble in acetone. When mixed with concentrated sulfuric acid, it turns red light purple, which turns orange upon dilution. In concentrated nitric acid, it appears as yellow brown. When its aqueous solution is mixed with concentrated hydrochloric acid, it turns orange, and when mixed with concentrated sodium hydroxide solution, it becomes brown light orange.
Uses
Used in Textile Industry:
ACID ALIZARIN VIOLET N is used as a dye for the textile industry due to its ability to produce various shades of color when mixed with different chemicals. It is known for its fastness properties, such as ironing fastness (ISO 3-4, AATCC 4), light fastness (ISO 6, AATCC 6), fulling (ISO 4, AATCC 4-5), perspiration fastness (ISO 3-4, AATCC 4-5), soaping (ISO 4-5, AATCC 5), water fastness (ISO 5, AATCC 5), alkali fastness (ISO 5, AATCC 5), and acid fastness (ISO 5, AATCC 5).
Used in Chemical Industry:
ACID ALIZARIN VIOLET N is used as a chemical indicator in the chemical industry due to its color-changing properties when mixed with different chemicals, such as acids and bases. This makes it useful for detecting the presence of specific substances or monitoring chemical reactions.

Purification Methods
Convert the acid to the monosodium salt by precipitation with NaOAc/AcOH buffer of pH 4, then purify by precipitation of the free acid from aqueous solution with conc HCl, washing and extracting with EtOH in a Soxhlet extractor. The acid precipitates on evaporating the EtOH and is reconverted to the sodium salt as described for Chlorazole Sky Blue FF. Dry it at 110o. It is hygroscopic. Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 2092-55-9 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 2,0,9 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 2092-55:
(6*2)+(5*0)+(4*9)+(3*2)+(2*5)+(1*5)=69
69 % 10 = 9
So 2092-55-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
