24171-69-5 Usage

General Description

2,4,6-trinitrophenol, also known as picric acid, is a yellow crystalline compound that is used in the production of explosives, dyes, and pharmaceuticals. It is highly toxic, especially when inhaled or ingested, and can cause severe burns upon contact with the skin. 9H-carbazole, on the other hand, is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon that is used in the production of dyes and pigments. The combination of these two chemicals, at a 1:1 ratio, is likely to result in a highly potent and potentially hazardous mixture, and should be handled with extreme caution.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 24171-69-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,4,1,7 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 24171-69:
(7*2)+(6*4)+(5*1)+(4*7)+(3*1)+(2*6)+(1*9)=95
95 % 10 = 5
So 24171-69-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis, spectroscopic characterization and structural investigations of new adduct compound of carbazole with picric acid: DNA binding and antimicrobial studies

Saravanabhavan, Munusamy,Sathya, Krishnan,Puranik, Vedavati G.,Sekar, Marimuthu

, p. 399 - 406 (2013/10/21)

Carbazole picrate (CP), a new organic compound has been synthesized, characterized by various analytical and spectroscopic technique such as FT-IR, UV-Vis, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. An orthorhombic geometry was proposed based on single crystal XRD study. The thermal stability of the crystal was studied by using thermo-gravimetric and differential thermal analyses and found that it was stable up to 170 C. Further, the newly synthesized title compound was tested for its in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity against various bacterial and fungal species. Also, the compound was tested for its binding activity with Calf thymus (CT) DNA and the results show a considerable interaction between CP and CT-DNA.
