Methyltri-n-octylsilane is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C28H60Si. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a faint odor. METHYLTRI-N-OCTYLSILANE is commonly used as a silane coupling agent in the production of various industrial products such as adhesives, sealants, and coatings. Methyltri-n-octylsilane is also used as a water repellent and as a surface modifier for glass, metal, and mineral surfaces. It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents, and it is considered to be relatively stable under normal conditions. However, it may react violently with oxidizing agents and can form flammable hydrogen gas when in contact with strong acids.
