Usage

General Description

5-(2-Aminoethyl)-1H-imidazol-2-amine, also known as histamine, is a biologically active amine involved in various physiological processes. It is produced by the decarboxylation of the amino acid histidine and acts as a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. Histamine is also a key mediator in the inflammatory response and is involved in regulating gastric acid secretion and smooth muscle contraction. It plays a critical role in allergic reactions, where it is released from mast cells and causes symptoms such as itching, sneezing, and watery eyes. Additionally, histamine is targeted by antihistamine drugs, which are commonly used to alleviate allergy symptoms and other histamine-related conditions.
