42516-72-3 Usage
General Description
(η6-1,3,5-cyclooctatriene)(η4-1,5-cyclooctadiene)ruthenium(0) is a chemical compound consisting of a ruthenium atom coordinated with two cyclic hydrocarbons - cyclooctatriene and cyclooctadiene. The η6-1,3,5-cyclooctatriene ligand binds to the ruthenium through six carbon atoms in a cyclic fashion, while the η4-1,5-cyclooctadiene ligand binds through four carbon atoms in a similar manner. (η6-1,3,5-cyclooctatriene)(η4-1,5-cyclooctadiene)ruthenium(0) is often used as a catalyst in organic chemistry reactions, particularly in the activation of C-H bonds and in various catalytic processes such as hydrogenation and dehydrogenation. The unique structure and reactivity of this compound make it a valuable tool in synthetic chemistry and catalysis.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 42516-72-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 4,2,5,1 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 42516-72:
(7*4)+(6*2)+(5*5)+(4*1)+(3*6)+(2*7)+(1*2)=103
103 % 10 = 3
So 42516-72-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

The Use of (Cyclo-octadiene)(cyclo-octatriene)ruthenium(0) as the Starting Material for the Synthesis of Mono- and Poly-nuclear Rhuthenium Polyhydride Phosphine Complexes

, p. 1388 - 1390 (2007/10/02)
Ru(cod)(cot) (cod = 1-2:5-6-η-cyclo-octadiene; cot = 1-2:3-4:5-6-η-cyclo-octatriene) has been shown to be an efficient starting material for the synthesis of a number of ruthenium(0) and ruthenium hydride phosphine complexes; with monophosphines Ru(cod)(cot)L , the dinuclear complex (RuH4L2)2 (L = PiPr3, PtBu3), and the hexahydride complex RuH6L2 (L = Pcy3, cy = cyclohexyl) have been obtained whereas with diphosphines, the ruthenium(0) dinuclear complex Ru2(cod)2(cot)(dppm)2 (dppm = Ph2PCH2PPh2), the hydrido trinuclear complex 3, and RuH2(dppe)2 (dppe = Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2) are produced.
