METHOD FOR PRODUCING BIS-(2,2-DINITROPROPYL)ACETAL
-
Paragraph 0040, (2017/03/25)
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe method for producing bis-(2,2-dinitropropyl)acetal (BDNPA) in a high yield. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing BDNPA by reacting component (A) 2,2-dinitropropanol, component (B) an acetaldehyde source and component (C) concentrated sulfuric acid, where a mixed liquid (AB) of the component (A) and the component(B) and the component (C) are mixed and continuously reacted at a reaction temperature of 0 to 25°C so that the mixing ratio (molar ratio) of the component (A), the component (B) and the component (C) is (B)/(A)=0.5 to 1.0 and (C)/(A)=0.1 to 1.5 using a circulating-type reactor (3) having a first passage (6) in which the mixed liquid (AB) flows and a second passage (7) in which the component (C) flows. Process and intermediates for the production of BDNPA and BDNPF and other bis(dinitroalkyl)acetals and formals

Page/Page column 7-8; 4, (2009/09/07)
Bis(dinitroalkyl)acetals and formals having the formula (1) particularly bis(2,2-dinitropropyl)acetal and bis(2,2-dinitropropyl)formal are produced by oxidative nitration of compounds having the formula (2): preferably via a sodium or other alkali metal, or alkaline earth metal, salt of compounds of Formula (2). Certain of the compounds of formula (1) are novel. All of the intermediates of formula (2) are novel and form another aspect of this invention, as does a process for their production by reacting an aldehyde with a nitroalkanol. The process can readily produce a mixture of the dinitro compounds known as BDNPA and BDNPF (also known as A/F) using the non-explosive intermediates, BNPA and BNPF, both of which are novel.
