5-[3,4(Methylenedioxy)phenyl]-1,3-cyclohexanedione, also known as MDMAI, is a psychoactive drug and substituted cathinone. It is structurally related to the popular recreational drug MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), also known as ecstasy. MDMAI is a synthetic compound that acts as a dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It has been reported to produce stimulant and entactogenic effects, similar to those of MDMA. However, it is considered to have a higher potential for adverse effects and is not approved for medical or recreational use. The substance is often sold in the form of a fine white powder and is used illicitly as a recreational drug.
