New dimeric complexes of Fe(III) chloride having the general formula (FeCl3*L) (where L = N,N'-diphenylformamidino-N''-phenylthiocarbamide (DPFPTC); N,N'-diphenylformamidinophenylcarbamide (DPFPC), N,N'-diphenylformamidino-N''-p-tolyl-thiocarbamide (DPF-p-TTC); N,N'-diphenylformamidino-N''-o-tolyl-thiocarbamide (DPF-o-TTC); benzoylformamidinophenylcarbamide (BFPC), benzoylformamidinophenylthiocarbamide (BFPTC), benzoylformamidino-p-tolylthiocarbamide-BF-p-TTC), and benzoylformamidino-o-tolylthiocarbamide (BF-o-TTC) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, infrared and ultraviolet spectra.Coordination through nitrogen and sulphur in the case of DPFPTC, DPF-p-TTC, DPF-o-TTC, BFPTC, BF-p-TTC, BF-o-TTC and through oxygen and nitrogen in the case of DPFPC and BFPC has been proposed.Octahedral configuration has been proposed for all these complexes.
