68611-64-3 Usage

General Description

Urea, reaction products with formaldehyde, commonly known as urea-formaldehyde resins, are a class of thermosetting synthetic resins used in adhesives, finishes, plywood, particleboard, and molded objects. Urea and formaldehyde are reacted together under heat and pressure to form a stable and durable resin. Urea-formaldehyde resins have excellent adhesive properties, water resistance, and are resistant to heat and chemicals, making them ideal for use in a wide range of industrial and consumer applications. However, prolonged exposure to the formaldehyde component of these resins has been linked to potential health risks, including respiratory problems and irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat. Therefore, proper ventilation and safety precautions are important when working with products containing urea-formaldehyde resins.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 68611-64-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,8,6,1 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 68611-64:
(7*6)+(6*8)+(5*6)+(4*1)+(3*1)+(2*6)+(1*4)=143
143 % 10 = 3
So 68611-64-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Binder composition and method for treating particulate material

-

Page/Page column 7, (2008/06/13)

In accordance with this invention a binder composition for treating particulate material to form a solid aggregate matrix is prepared by providing a urea formaldehyde precondensate; a polar solvent; additional urea; an acid or salt thereof, the acid or salt thereof being selected such as to render the pH of the binder composition to a value from 2.0 to 5.3; providing a sugar; providing a binding promoter for enhancing the binding between the binder composition and the particulate material; and mixing the above so as to form a binder composition. The binder composition is mixed with particulate material and allowed to set into a solid aggregate matrix over a period of longer than 30 minutes from being mixed with the said particulate material.
