69898-45-9 Usage
Chemical Properties
Yellow to yellow-green powder, soluble in water.
Uses
Ferrozine sodium is a ferroin compound that forms a stable magenta-colored solution with the ferrous ion. The complex has an absorption peak at 562 nm and is used as a reagent and indicator for iron. Ferrozin is an organic ligand which is useful as a disposable optical sensor for heavy metal determination.
Definition
ChEBI: Ferrozine monosodium salt is an organic sodium salt that is the monosodium salt of 4,4'-[3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazine-5,6-diyl]dibenzenesulfonic acid. It has a role as an iron chelator. It contains a ferrozine(2-).
General Description
Ferrozine sodium salt, also known as ferrozine, is an iron chelator. It is used for the removal of iron from physiological fluids and tissue samples in order to identify the presence of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Ferrozine binds to iron ions and forms ferrous complexes that are excreted through urine or bile. It has been shown that ferrozine inhibits lipid peroxidation in rat liver mitochondria. This may be due to its ability to react with hydrogen peroxide and form a complex with iron-hydrogen peroxide, which prevents the formation of hydroxyl radicals.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 69898-45-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,9,8,9 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 69898-45:
(7*6)+(6*9)+(5*8)+(4*9)+(3*8)+(2*4)+(1*5)=209
209 % 10 = 9
So 69898-45-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
