Reactions of Tin Tetraacetate with N-Substituted Salicylideneimines

Reactions of tin tetraacetate with N-alkylsalicylideneimines, HOC6H4CH=NR (R=CH3, C2H5, C3H5, C3H7n, C3H7i, C4H9n, C4H9i, C6H5, p-CH3C6H4) have been carried out in refluxing toluene in different stoichiometric ratios.The reactions are facile and yield mono- and di-substituted derivatives, the latter being the final products even with excess of the schiff base.IR and PMR spectral data of the new compounds have been reported.
