levosulpiride is a substituted benzamide antipsychotic, reported to be a selective antagonist of dopamine d2 receptor activity on both central and peripheral levels. it is an atypical neuroleptic and a prokinetic agent. levosulpiride is also claimed to have mood elevating properties. levosulpiride is used in the treatment of psychoses, particularly negative symptoms ofschizophrenia, anxiety disorders, dysthymia, vertigo, dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome and premature ejaculation.chemically, it is the (s)-enantiomer of sulpiride.

usage:

1. antipsychotic drugs to treat neurological schizophrenia. is also used for intractable vomiting, peptic ulcer, and traumatic brain injury, dizziness, headache.

2. also used for intractable vomiting and peptic ulcer.

3. antiemetic.

4. dopamine d2 and d3-receptor antagonist. antipsychotic; antidepressant; antiemetic.

5. similar effect as sulpiride, but the dosage of levosulpiride is only half or less, thus the side effects is less.
