Uses of 2-Bromo-5-methylthiophene: it can be used to produce 5,5'-dimethyl-[2,2']bithiophenyl at temperature of 25 °C. It will need reagent t-AmONa, Ni(OAc)₂, 2,2'-bipyridine and solvent tetrahydrofuran with reaction time of 1.5 s. The yield is about 73%.
