3-Heptanone, 2-methyl can be prepared by 2-Methyl-heptan-3-ol

This reaction needs reagent Raney-Ni and solvent Benzene. The reaction time is 13 hours. The yield is 70%.

Uses of 3-Heptanone, 2-methyl-: it is used to produce other chemicals. For example, it is used to produce 2-Butyl-3,3-dimethyl-1,4-dioxy-2,3-dihydro-quinoxalin-2-ylamine.

2-Butyl-3,3-dimethyl-1,4-dioxy-2,3-dihydro-quinoxalin-2-ylamine can be obtained by 3-Heptanone, 2-methyl- and benzo[1,2,5]oxadiazole 1-oxide.

The reaction occurs with reagent NH3 and solvent Methanol at temperature of 30-40 °C for 6 hours. The yield is 57%.
