7-Iodo-8-hydroyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid (CAS NO.547-91-1) is used for anti-amoebic drug. It belongs to halogenated 8 - hydroxy quinoline class. Such anti-amebic drugs by inhibiting the intestinal anti-amebic symbiotic bacteria play a role in production efficiency of amoebic dysentery, amoebic protozoa of the intestine had no effect outside. In recent years, foreign coverage of the drugs can cause subacute optic neuropathy, so the drug in Japan and the United States has been disabled.
7-Iodo-8-hydroyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid (CAS NO.547-91-1) is by the 8 - hydroxyquinoline by oleum sulfonation, iodine tablets and iodized sodium hypochlorite derived.
