- Rare Earth Iodide Complexes of 4-N-(2'-Hydroxy-1'-naphthylidene)aminoantipyrine
-
A new series of rare earth iodide complexes with the ligand 4-N-(2'-hydroxy-1'-naphthylidene)aminoantipyrine (HNAAP; HL) having the compositions (where Ln = La and Pr) and I2 (where Ln = Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Y) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of analytical, electrical conductance, IR spectra, electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility data.HNAAP acts as a monovalent terdentate ligand in the complexes of La and Pr ans as neutral bidentate ligand in the complexes of Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Y.The iodine in the complexes of La and Pr and one of the iodines in the complexes of Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Y are coordinated to the rare earth ion.
