REACTION OF N-SUBSTITUTED PHTHALIMIDES AND ISOPHTHALIMIDES WITH SECONDARY AMINES
The N,N'-substituted diamides of phthalic acid are formed in the reaction of N-substituted phthalimides and isophthalimides with secondary amines. The isophthalimides are stronger agents.Cyclic amines with a medium ring size are acylated so readily that the reaction of 2-bromoethylphthalimide with piperidine leads primarily to the acylation product.
